iOptron IEQ45 Periodic Error with PEC enabled.

I recently posted a thread regarding the periodic error of my IEQ45 mount and have now had chance to program the PE data into the mount and run PEMPro again to check the improvement. PEMPro has reduced the error from 31.47 arc secs peak to peak to 9.08 arc secs peak to peak. The actual PE data/curves can be viewed at the following link

Hi Richard,

In the text you wrote, the very last line says: "The PEC data was therefore relayed to the mount using the auto guider", what do you mean?

Does the mount store your PE data and then you activate a PEC function?

Congrats on the result.

iOptron IEQ45 Periodic Error

Steve,
There are three ways of prgramming the PE data to the mount.

1. With some mounts, like the AP mounts, you can upload the data direct to the mount, like uploading a file. This method doesn't require the PE curve to be played to the mount and the mount set to record.
2. With some mounts that don't have the upload capability of the AP mounts, it is possible to upload the PE data to the mount via the ASCOM driver, providing the ASCOM driver supports PulseGuide. This method does require the PE curve to be played to the mount and the mount set to record.
3. The third method is to use the "move mount via autoguider" option in PemPro. Using this method, PemPro acts like a virtual autoguider and sends move commands to the mount via the autoguider. You start playback in PemPro and set the mount to record and the mount records the corrections as if using an autoguider.

No doubt Ray Gralak, who wrote PemPro, could provide a more detailed explanation, but I hope that helps.
