Long Perng 90mm f5.5 APO on its way.

Hi all , I had a small lotto win this last saturday yippe !! I wont be retiring soon tho as the optimum word is SMALL , but I did get to order a new Long Perng 90mm f5.5 APO today from Andrews Com. and it will be here in about a week .
For $849 delivered these have to be a major bargain ?
They only have 4 of these so if you want one you had better be quick .
With the fpl53 doublet lense , 500mm f/l and 11 to 1 focuser it will be a great imaging scope .
An Atik 314c CCD is to follow , here I go down the" road to empty pockets" , but what the hey?? .
I cant wait as Luke said the build is very good , on par with WO scopes , and I have no reason to doubt his word as every item I have ever got from Andrews has been top notch .
I will post photos when it arrives and is all set up .
Now the dreaded WAIT !!!
More to follow......
Brian.

My God ! the internet is s l o w here tonight , blardy frustrating ....
Anyway thanks guys , I am like Flash on the waiting train , looks like your beautiful TV and my LP will arrive about the same time there Flash?
Yes I will definatly keep all informed , I will do a review here on IIS as there is nothing on the net that I can find on these , any one else had any luck ?
I see these scopes as becoming a new ED80 , especially for imaging as I have said , what do you recon? . The first comparo will be with my excellent Saxon ED80 , that will be a good start . 10mm extra is a lot at this size scopes .
Any way the wait continues ...... .

Hi Brian, the SV80ED is probably due in around a week. Hasn't been shipped yet. I considered the LP 90mm but wanted something a bit lighter. Will be nice to get the 80 and 110 together.

Cheers

Morton

Snap Brian, I was gonna say the same about the Vixens you just got! They are little gems and keepers, so won't be parting with them for a while. I am sure you'd understand.
Cheers, Bo

I hear you GB , the LP 126mm and 152 mm are going to do it hard ,Dollar wise , when against the North Bridge 127's and Synta's 120's and 150 's .
They might be worth the extra $$'s but they will have to be really good ,because at these prices you can get a TV ,TEC, TBM or even a 2nd hand AP ? and in the 127mm size to top my NG127 triplet , its got to be a special scope at 1/2 the price .of these new large APO's comming on .
I will not be able to stop my self from calling from the towers when my new 90mm F/5 arrives , even though it's only ? ? a doublet , but it uses FPL53 .. Yea Ha .
The new ED80 . in 90mm . .
Brian ..

the LP is here , nice build ., well worth the money .
I cant take any decent photos because when I get home at 6.30pm its a little dingey ( dark) , . and the lovely gloss black finish dont show up very well in a flash .
The 11 to 1 focuser is very smooth , not as good as my supercharged GSO 10 to1 on my ED80, and I wont mention the FT3035 at this time .
but it aint bad , in the same league as my GSO b4 it got worked on.
Optics ,,, ?? well , the weather up here is bad , cyclones every where , so its very cloudy .
I took the 90mm f/5 and my sweet ED80 f/7.5 out on to the deck last night and using my 13mm Nagler in the 90mm and my 17mm Nagler in my Ed80 on a street light 1/2 a Km up the street . ....
.....
I was under whelmed wth the 90mm LP .. more colour than my old SV Aplanat ???? , the Ed80 blew it away . F/7.5 against F/5.5 , but still the LP was not doing it !! World class eyepieces , so the problem was not there.?
Here I was asking for a comparo with Flashes up and comming TV85 and Morton's SV80mm , ,,, I was ready to hide under a rock ... Sorry guy's ..
Then it hit me , I had just done the oppisite to most people do , and thats take a scope from a cool air conditioned house at 24 degrees into the NT's hot and humid 33 degrees , and the poor 90mm lense had to acclimatise to the heat , Woaw !! , After 1/2 an hour , the 3 way comparisim was back on ,, Nice views , as sharp and perfectly colour free as my ED80 ,, but so much brighter . 10mm is a lot .
, I am impressed .
Photos comming .
Brian.

Congrats on the new scope and the win also, looks a nice little scope. The advert had me a little confused though, read below...

ED APO 90mm f/5.5 doublet achromatic refractor with fully multicoated lens and Crayford style 2" 11:1 microfocuser!

I hope that was a typo...

Look forward to hearing how the scope performs.
