photo management uploads

hello mods and members can anybody give me instruction on how to add photos?
i have been to the "manage items" section but my downloads failed
i then put them in a compressed zip and tried to upload but that failed also

make them jpg and no more than about 1200 pixels across

Hi Patt

Click "Manage Attachments" from your new post (you may need to click 'go advanced first if it's a reply), and upload the jpeg from your computer, about 200kb in size.

Then click 'upload'.

They'll then appear on your post.

hmm.... the image properties are telling me they are jpeg already

What size are they?
What error message are you getting?

ok ice this is what i have done:
firstly my dictum
then i go to manage attach.
browse (from desktop file)
select photo
right click - select
upload (iis window)
then it says "uploading files pls wait
then "upload file failed"
on the properties it says image is jpeg and is 4.21mb

Pat, you need to decrease the size, as Mike says,less than 200kb, your 4.21 MB file is way too big - >4000 KB. Resize in a photo program.

ah ok liz.... that explains it then, dont know how to reduce the photos though, will have to check it out

Hi Pat,

I use Microsoft office picture manager and find it quick and easy, but most picture manager will do it. If you have office, look under All Programs>Microsoft Office>Office Tools.

then just use the resize tool under Picture and use the adjusters on the right.

Try a free photo editing program like VSO Resizer. That will allow you to resize to 800px wide for example.
