Timelapse from the Atacama desert in Chile

Taken at Cerro Paranal, in the high, dry, Atacama desert in Chileby renowned TWAN'er, Babak Tafreshi.

Some great sequences. Some of them are magical, especially the one with Orion rising.
Doesn't have the cinematography of the modern timelapses these days.

I wish I knew how he achieves that glowing stars look!

Babak is a great nightscape photographer I prefer his photos over the timelapses. Timelapses bore me to death, that's just personal

About the glowing stars I think I have the answer to that one: A fog filer.

I use a Tiffen double fog filter. It does the trick but most of the time I just hate the effect

Beautiful skies, that's for sure.

I'd love to spend a week or two up there with my scope.

Some great work there. I agree that soft look does make the brighter stars look more interesting.

The new Nikon D800 has time lapse built in camera so that could make it handy.

Greg.
