Hershel's ray.
Hershel's ray or NGC2736 taken with the GSO RC8 inbetween testing the Gemini2 firmware.
Will need more exposures as it is fairly faint outside the main nebula.
This is a cropped picture so the nebula stands out more.

Lovely image Martin. I think this is your best work yet. The colour and detail is great. Well done.

Thank you all for your nice comments and the funny picture you made Mike
I myself am not quite happy with the picture because there is more nebulosity around it.
Will make longer exposures when the weather clears up and not testing.

Thank you Rolf
This nebula is fairly big and can be imaged from New Zealand too.
It is in Vela just above the star Suhail.

Very nice view of an unusual nebula Martin, thanks. Look forward to when you go deeper on this one to see what else you find.
This one has been on my to do list, and after seeing your image definately will.
All the best.

I never imaged this one before because of the ED80, but now with the RC8 it is a whole lot easier to do.

You will have to go with long exposures on this one.

Thanks Martin, nice to see a good image of something less common. I looked at it recently with my 16".

That's a very nice Herschels Ray super destroyer!
The extended Ha and O111 areas show up best in O111 and Ha.
It may be tough in LRGB to catch them.
Greg.
