Comet Lovejoy and LMC

I'm so stoked to have managed to image this conjunction with Lovejoy and the LMC. Shot through sucker holes. Only 2x4 min.
Canon 550d @ iso1600
Canon Nifty 50 @ f3.5
I had to use the "dust and scratches" filter to remove most of the stars because they drowned out the comet.

This is the second image of the evening. 7 x 4 minutes of data this time.
Sadly couldn't get the comet as bright as I'd like.
But I did notice this time that NGC 1672 shows as a fuzzy green spot near the head of the comet.
And once again I filtered a lot of the stars out to bring out the comet.

The poor old camera was working at 24 degrees. 14 degrees above it's preferred temp.
If it's clear tomorrow night, I'll try it with the modded 20D and see how that goes re. noise.

Clewd disappear......

Wow, it's faint now!!!!!

Fantastic work JJ being able to still capture it

P.S. Your LMC looks great too. It's one of those images that show LMC as the Barred Spiral that it was

Considering the comet is very faint now, you've done a fantastic job capturing it so well JJ!
Nice work on the LMC too. The green fuzzy spot almost looks like another comet maybe!!

Hi,

Nice job to get that.
I wonder what the magnitude of the tail is?
The only thing I could relate to is the horsehead in brightness.

Cheers,
Justin.
