My dreams are coming true (we're building an observatory(:

Hi all: Finally it's going to be 10X10 feet. And we've already got the

concrete poured (by a contractor) to 6" thick. It looks like a good job

so far. And even though I'm planning on using mostly a tripod and at first,

we've got 4, 1/2 rods in the center for a future pier if enough money and

needed. The only thing is that the rods are a little loose. The guy

pushed them in when the concrete was wet then moved them around. If

put under tension, I think they wouldn't shift. But what do people here

think?

Thank you.

My pier is cast iron and is just dyna bolted to the concrete floor. The connection to the floor needs to be very rigid. Are your rods threaded?
If they aren't rigid enough you can always drill holes and epoxy rods back in or use dyna bolts like I did

My central rods

My central rods are a little too tall, so that's okay. The top 1.5" are

threaded. I just need to die the threads low enough. But I think in tensile stength, if I pulled they wouldn't pull through.

So I need to get them under tension and put a few washers under the nut
I use to put them under tension, and get them (rods) all cut to the same

height.

The concrete is reinforced a little. It's got Chloride in it and fiber. So
it's good.
