Having got fed up with not being able to focus my SCT, what’s new !!, for photography i realised, with the help from people on this site, that the solution or a large part of it lay with a Crayford 10:1 focuser. Yep looked good, bought one today $119 from Bintel. I bought it on the foolish, damned stupid, iditic, asinine, assumption that i had every camera adapter know to man, and some known only to Spock. Thrilled with my purchase I dashed home keen to try it out, mounted it on the scope and searched for an adapter – oops. Oh well a quick look on the web will sort it out. I found a couple of prime/epp units between $89 and $135 . So I can buy a hefty and fairly complicated piece of engineering for $119 and yet an adapter with three threads and three grubscrew is going to cost me the same again. Now I am a tight fisted old scrooge as some of you know, but this is beyond the pale.
I know its less than $100 dollars, not a lot especially when compared with the overall cost of equipment, but right now I almost feel like selling the whole bloody kit and caboodle.
I am thinking the same - adapter for what ?
You put the crayford on , the diagonal in , your eye peice . Focus with the original focuser with crayford racked out half way
then dont touch the original again - use new focuser as needed there are no adapters.
Peter I have one of those and an SCT. I never use it, even though it works a treat. Use a barlow instead, you will never be able to use the magnification it produces. Infact the only part of it I use regularly is the barrel and the male T thread.
If however you want want place an Advert, I'm sure someone here will have one real cheap.
Sorry you can't have mine as i using the 1.25" /T thread
Have look on Andrews webside - similar thingy for $29. I'm using it as extension tube. It got M/F T thread and 1.25" nosepiece and set screw for eyepiece projection. Although I never used it with eyepices

interesting comment Paul are you suggesting that for eyepiece photography I go back to the old visual back straight into the T adapter and not try to use the focuser. Sort of defeats the purpose for me as I need a good quality focuser for photography and I am damned if I am to persevere with the current SCT design.
Marke, my issue is I want to have a moan about paying almost the same price for the camera adapter, a very simple piece of engineering, as the Crayford, a much more complex fabrication.
I have had that moan and feel a lot better now.

I have one of those - I've never used it - just used the t thread and nosepice and I could have used a cheap barlow and taken off the barlow lens - silly me
Struth,Peter,sorry to hear of your woes'-bogan's behind the observatory,and issues in your observatory.Hope the focus issues come good.Cannot really offer any helpful advice-always stayed away from SCT and used refractors.May be sell the whole tube set up you have get a good WO 110 or similar.Or rent a D10 for the day
As I said before, I do not know if it works OK as eyepiece projection adaptor - I use it as extension tube and as bonus I get 1.25" nosepiece that by itself cost more (from some suppliers) then whole adaptor.
Before I retired I worked as Production Manager in Electronic manufacturing.
I totally agree with your assessment about the cost of accessories. The profit margin on some items goes to thousands of %. I'm talking about cost of electronic accessories in general.

I'm trying to work out why you actually need it. You have a 10:1 crayford on the back of an SCT? Then a straight forward Prime Focus adapter should be all you need (I'm assuming you are trying to attach a camera that has a T thread at the front, DSLR T Adapter or CCD thread). I'm not sure how the adapter your looking for will actually help you. Yes it has the potential to give you ridiculously long effective focal lengths but with the trade off of in credibly slow f ratios. I dont see how that is going to help you image deepsky objects with an sct that is already at f/10.
