Round and round - a Helix repro

Hello everyone...

Well after using some tips from Ivo Jager, I've reprocessed my Helix Nebula data. The result is, IMHO, much, much better than my first efforts. This one has taken about 3 nights of trial and error untill I got something where I was happy with both the PN and the stars.

To be honest, for a fourth use of my QHY8L, I'm very happy with the data that I've managed to capture.

Cheers,
Mario

PS I promise, no more repros of this data!

No complaints here Mario

As far as I am concerned you should never feel you can't post a repro, some of us love'em

As for this image keep trying (and posting) you look to have guiding going ok and the image is quite smooth too

That's a great repro Mario - I like it better than mine. Not a biggie, but you seem to have lost most of the outer-most ring though?

Regardless, you should be proud - it's quite an accomplishment attaining results like these from such challenging data!

And I'm with Mike - people should post as many repros as they want. It's actually very educational when people tell what they did differently and why they think their latest repro is an improvement!

Ivo, I decided that the arm was about the same intensity as the other nebulosity around the Helix. However I didn't like the look when I boosted the surrounds at the same time as the Helix so in the end I reduced the boosting on all of the nebulosity including the arm. One thing I've decided is I probably need to get a new monitor as I'm having trouble in getting an accurate feel for the birghtness of an image despite my having calibrated it previously.

Cheers,
Mario
