NGC225 is cataloged as an open cluster and it has an associated dark nebula (VdB4). I imaged this right before AIC and just finished it up. The bright blue stars seem to spotlight the scene and the reflection components really do an interesting color mix of the nebula. The structures remind me a bit of an old lava lamp.
Wow that's a great cluster image Ken. Clusters are often overlooked I think... Nice processing as always and the colours reall make it pop. I like the reflection nebula, it looks fantastic.
Agree with Rolf, often overlooked because of their simplicity yet that defines this image, reflected by the superb colour processing, smooth background with the hint of nebula
I am glad you like it . . . It is interesting how the colors are mixed and the redding that happens from what I am guessing is from the dust in the area.
Sometimes it is hard to know how far to adjust because of color bias based on what we are imaging the object through. I find I tend to push away from green as I am more fond of the blues and reds.
Crazy hobby! but that is why they call it techical art.
What a beautiful and unique area that is. I remember Tom Davis did a fantastic slightly wider shot of this a while back ...it really is a nice meeting of a cluster and some mixed dust and nebula, bit like Corona Australis, top looking image

Tom's images are wonderful and they make very nice finder charts for longer focal lengths. Framing was not easy as I threw away about 6 hours of data that ended up not where I wanted it.
We have started our late fall - early winter in the states and the weather is getting iffy. Last winter I was shut down almost 4 months so I am hoping for better conditions.
