Red face Att: Snake Valley Campers - Name Your Targets

What are you hoping to achieve this camp ?
Imagers have you got a particular object that your going to tackle ?
Observers what are you planning to see that you havnt seen before or love to see again?

Well for me i plan on not getting much sleep at all
Having lots of laughs with some awsome company
But my main mission is i would love to get a pic of jupiter before i leave camp and im not leaving till ive got one
So my question is... is there any planetry imagers that will love to spend some time with jen to achieve this And to learn how to do startrails properly and widefield shots of the nightsky
Amd im on the prowl to finally decide what nice eyepieces to get to compliment Johnny so keep an eye on ya eyepieces guys
Oh and if anyone has a 5xpowermate that i could borrow or a decent barlow while im there that would be greatly appreciated thanks THAT IS ALL
Whoah i think im up for a busy weekend wooohoooo bring it on see you all real soon

Jen, I'm having a crack at messiers with my dad's old binos so far I've only seen seven (!), so 93 to go

Pls have a spare seat when you're playing with planetary images so I can come see too!! Same goes for star trails

Also can't forget the Horsie Hunt!! I plan to tag along for that, whether I will be disappointed or not

Still putting together a list of targets. Main aim is to try out new binos (15x80s) that should arrive here tomorrow and a couple of other bits.
Will have another try for M76 but not hopeful.

I will be doing 'Live' video observing presentations all night every night as the weather permits of as many objects as possible.

But the most obvious ones on the list will be Lagoon Neb, Trifid Neb, Tarantula, 47 Tuc, NGC 1962, 1966, 2018, 2077, 1968, 253, 55, 1365, Fornax Galaxy Cluster, Helix Nebula, Grus Galaxy Trio, M42, Running Man, Abell 400, M33, M74, M78, Abell 194, Carina Neb, Running Chicken, NGC 6744, Horsehead, Flame Neb, Rosette Neb, Abell 539, etc.

and pretty much anything anyone wants to go look at

I don't know if I will be Broadcasting any 'Live' internet Astrocasts from Camp yet.

Targets? I mostly want to put faces to some names, e.g., Ken James (aka `Dragon Man') and this talkative (in purple no less!) "astro chick" who models for pictures in PJs and flippers while standing by a lake. I can only visit for Saturday afternoon/evening so I'm there for the social angle as much as anything. However, if it's clear I'll be out on the field doing some binocular observing.

I must have a good look at Thor's Helmet (NGC 2359) this camp.

And it will look just like this:-

http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap100605.html

I wish

And I'd better try for some of those face-on spirals I haven't finished compiling http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=73251

Not much in the way of targets, maybe some LMC globular clusters and comet C/2010 G2 (Hill) in the wee hours if it's bright enough. Just lots of cruising.

That's for my scope anyway. Now for other people's scopes I've got a huge list of targets.........

Cheers -

Targets for this camp include (in roughly chronological order):

1. packing the truck without forgetting anything (well, too much of importance anyway)
2. getting away from Melbourne at a reasonable hour on Friday
3. begging someone to help me align my scope (this job normally falls to danielsun so will available to some other lucky bugger this time!)
4. learning the dark arts of drift aligning from John G
5. getting alignmaster and EQMod working

6. some widefields/startrails - maybe Jen will be my startrail buddy...?
7. some subs of something my ED80 will capture nicely (that isn't M42!) - maybe lagoon

8. coming up with a decent excuse to take Monday off

9. laughing

Based on recent weather we are all likely to get a real good look at "The Cloud Nebula"
