Ngc 2004, 2011, 2014, 2029, 2032 & 2040

Hi all,
I managed to get some Ha on this area about 2-3 weeks ago and have been waiting for the clouds to part.. had just one night last Saturday to get down some lum... will have to wait for the colour while this fickle weather passes through.
Great area of sky and one that is sometimes hard for me to get anything decent on at this time of the year due to it being our, 'windy' time. Not to mention the dust which causes bad haze in and around the SCP area.

This is a fantastic area near our satellite galaxies, lots of stuff to see and also the star field is so lovely and dense.

Scope- 10" F4.6 Newt.
CCD- SXVR-H16
Filters- 2" Astronomik L/ Ha (12nM)

Ha- 12 subs @ 10' exposures
Lum- 17 subs @ 7' exposures

That's great Richard, I like the torus in the lower right quadrant, adds a rather 3D element, I think that is strong in OIII actually

Looking good so far Rich. It's nice that you have an optimistic attitude about the fickle weather. Sometimes I wonder if it will ever pass.

Thanks mate... I think you are right, there is quite a bit of OIII element to this torus shaped object. The star at its centre is a possible Wolf Rayet type star.
I'm interested to see how much blue will come through with the rose shaped object in the neb to the left of centre.

Yeah I know you had your lappy flogged.... have you bought a new one yet?
Any ho Mike, I hope you can get out asap.... don't think there'd be any plaster left on your walls at home from climbing every one.... you is a man of much patience...

I start having withdrawals when I don't see stars for more than a week...

Been good since I've had the OAG happening. I can now really push exposures which is great to bring out extra things I haven't seen before. Especially beneficial for HII.
Yeah I know, this time of year can be real trying.... but I'm sure, every year is getting worse... I remember when I first started into just visual observing.. almost twenty years back.... it seemed like just a couple or a few days per week were not so good, the rest were clear.

Certainly is a very interesting area... don't think I've bagged so many objects in one image before.... still I haven't spent enough time in this area...

Hey there rich, yes there is alot of OIII in that little rose shape, in all of my images that i took last week and last night its green, but what amazed me was it is pungant with Ha too as i took 15 min ha shots with a 13nm Astronomiks filter and it stand out like the dogs prerverbials!

Look forward to seeing the completed project.

yeah a great area for sure for NB filters..... interesting swag of objects and not the run of the mill plain ol' HII.. lots of stuff going on!

No problems Rich, I actually like the area under the rose though, it has some fantastic details almost like one of the balls of gas in the cats paw nebula!

I posted my shots up about 15 min ago you should have a bit of a geeze at it

I agree, the HII area to the lower R of the image with the billowing shock waves IS, very reminiscent of one of the 'Paws' (want of a better word) in the Cats Paw neb....
Man, I sure wish the weather to my south was better.. still a lot of objects I really need to get down good!
Yes that 'Rose' object really took my eye as well... lots of neat structure....

I too am really looking forward to the colour.... but alas, what with DLST, work, moon and weather, I think I'll have to wait till the next moon cycle.

But I hope to get it finished then.
Just love these star field areas where signal cancels out the noise. Certainly makes for easier processing.
Really happy with my OAG.. has made a lot more fainter objects more of a possibility.

Dead right Brenden.... no more flexure

Well some opticians say that a well formed mirror can be as good as a good quality refractor of 1" less aperture.. I'm tending to believe this when I compare images done with say Dietmars 9" TMB and similar images with a top quality custom 10" made mirrors... of course there will be some that will disagree... but the proofs in the images! Of course, and that was what I was saying when I commented that my F4 newt need some 'fussing', collimation needs to be spot on and the hardware has to be where it should be (no she'll be right)... I'm always fiddling (cause I made it) to get the utmost out of it photographically.

Cheers Ross for the comments... I'm still gob smacked at the many little clusters and the density of the star field... not that it is in the actual arc of the milky way but must be along an arm??

Nice start Rich. Yes there is lots of OIII in that rose shape. See here. I did this a couple of months ago and that objects is going to be part of my RC12" first image. If it was blue in an LRGB it will be quite blue with OIII.

I'm hanging to get the colour down... yes pitty I don't have an OIII filter at present... just have to stick with HaLrgb for this time around.
