Melting Nebula

Hello,

This project was a long one that ended up being a two frame mosaic 6 Filter image. Using strong LRGB I blended in Narrowband data to help reveal some interesting structures but kept the RGB componet colors.

The glow from the very bright star Gamma Cas just off frame bathes this region from above creating an effect that reminds me of melting ice cream.

Don't forget the full screen button and click to zoom and pan around as this gets pretty high res.

It may be worth a packet on ebay too as it clearly shows an effigy of the Virgin Mary there in the main nebulosity on the right

Lovely image Ken the depth of the blue in the stars to my seems quite bright for blue giants I would envisage the colour would be more bluish white in reality

Also the Zoomfly widget you use is this a freebie widget ??

I did buy Zoomify for the Flash code but there is a free plug-in that works with Photoshop.

I know I pushed the star colors but I am just trying to grab your attention

Yet another lovely image Ken on things we have no show of imaging.

Like your blend of the two NB channels to the BB channels to enhance what I would gather is a fairly faint object/s.

The blue reflection to the top portion of the image, is this from a large blue star out of the fov?

but I would like to state that with imaging automation systems it is not hard at all to rack up lots of imaging time (weather permitting). I sleep during all my imaging time. Of course it took time getting everything working correctly but just wanted to make sure that it is not a real feat compared to those who have to baby sit their systems.

He he, reminds of me of one of my first jobs when I worked at a golf driving range in Canberra, one of my jobs throughout a shift was to get out and collect all the balls during the day, while people were teeing off! Off I'd go with my plastic tube ball picker in one hand and a bucket in the other, whizz, pftt, clunck, all around me. I'd fill those buckets and tak'em back to the shop, I'd pick up 1000 balls a day....at the other driving range in Canberra the "ball boys" there had a machine like a ride on mower with a protective cage that'd pick up the balls as you drove over them, they'd drive out back and forth and have the balls collected but in comfort and no danger... ah sigh my imaging practices haven't improved over my ball collecting days ...I need a mower with a cage like yours Ken (and some of your processing skills wouldn't hurt either )

I love that story Mike! And because I got to meet you at AAIC I can imagine you telling me with your great grin! Sounds like Canberra does not have workers comp insurance problems
