Jupiter GRS Sept 20th 2011

Hi All,

Imaged the region of the GRS this morning, my RGB's are soft but have some nice 807nm IR data including an animation to which I have attached a link. There is some interesting structure within the GRS that shows up in the 807nm IR.

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/uploads...-20_tba_IR.gif

Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

Good images Trevor including rgb image. Reading the details from the bottom of your images is your telescope finished?

Thanks Troy, yep FRED is finished, just need some cooperation from the Jetstream to give it a chance for some hi-res images of Jupiter.

Regards
Trevor

Hi Trevor

Great results for such a relatively low altitude with not the best seeing. Thanks for the views, I always enjoy your work and continue to be inspired by your dedication and passion.

Cheers

Dennis

Nice views Trevor, and to reveal detail within the GRS with only 5/10 seeing is exceptional. It wasn't that long ago and detail within the GRS was only captured in very good conditions. I appreciate the views. Thanks.

Thanks very much for your very kind words Dennis, as for inspiration I think many of us here are continually astounded by the denizens of the Solar System that you seem to routinely hunt down.

Thanks very much Rob "FRED", my new scope is all prepped and ready to to perform at a moments notice, just hanging out for the Jetstream to move away.

Thanks very much Giuseppe, I am very fond of animations, I think they convey much more of a feel for the dynamics of what is happening.

Thanks very much Lester, in conditions like these The IR really excels and can reveal the hi-res detail that we need much better seeing to reveal with RGB's. I think the standard of amateur work has certainly lifted, you only have to look at what is being posted on any of the forums around the world to see.
