Southern Cross

Here's another shot from BSG. Centered on Alpha Crux. This one was a quickie (4x300s) with QHY8/SMC Pentax-M F1:2.8 100mm at F5.6 testing focus and guiding early in the night.

Bigger file here [4MB] and a more friendly download here. [1.8MB]

Looking back at it I could have framed the cross better but I was focusing on the bright star at the time and didn't really think about it. Next time. I still got the jewelbox in the field.

Another nice one Marc. You were busy alright. No wonder we didn't see much of you on the tennis court.

You seem to have the lens and 8 working well together.

Thanks Rick. I've probably got enough various shots lying around to make one. I always focus in the area.

Thanks Mike. Rotating the camera 90 degrees should do it next time.

Thanks Doug. I was lurking around in the dark, that's why you didn't see me. You must have heard the tent zippers going up and down all night though.

No worries - thanks Alex. The jewelbox would be a perfect fit for your dob's field.
