Ned Kelly's remains found.

I see they have have been able to formerly identify the remains of
Ned Kelly.

Maybe this will allow his descendants to inter his remains intact so he may rest in peace.

Hi,

They may have to battle a bit. There is a proposal to EXHIBIT the skeleton. I'd have thought there was a law against it.

re vermin

He was just a dangerous criminal, that caused a lot of innocent people harm,no different to the scum that murdered Danial Morcombe.

They should take kelly's bones to the tip-where they belong.

Well said Chris, I don't understand why Australians make heroes out of criminals.

From this guy, through to the current mobs here in Sydney and Melbourne, Australian media portrays them as 'cool' people who are worthy of our admiration. As you say, they are just scum, Ned included.

Cheers,
Jason.

Ahhh c'mon, we've probably done enough to him.

There's no thought he was an upstanding citizen of the time He was a murderer of police officers, and a violent armed criminal, true...

So "we" shot him 28 times, hanged him, cut off his head, put him in a tool box, and buried him in a mass grave. We could probably stop now

Cheers

Well I can't see any point in exhibiting the bones. There is nothing to be gained and I hope the idea just peaters out. As for Ned, well mention of his name can start religious wars. As far as I can see he was a looong way from a saint but also not the devil some see. It seems the family were somewhat prone to petty crime but were by no means major criminals. There are doubts about the correctness of some of his early convictions and the coppers didn't like it that 4 of them couldn't arrest him and had to get the local blacksmith to help. I think they had it doubly in for him because of that and that may explain why Lonigan 'black balled' him. The event that pushed him to becoming a full-on outlaw was the lies told by the copper Fitzpatrick who arrived drunk at the Kelly farm and tried to molest Ned's sister. After that there was no chance of justice under the law and Ned's fate to die at the hands of the law was sealed.

Perhaps Ned should have hung but a couple of others should have been up there with him.

Not sure either,Jason.

You know what will happened-instead of the bones going to the tip.

The Government will spend huge amounts of money making memorials, ceremonies etc etc.And this government is basically the
same government that he robbed from

kelly is on the same page as hitler, bin lardern etc-just an awful criminal.

True, John MacArthur and Alan Bond spring to mind.

I guess we all know his history and can judge it as we see fit .

Do you wonder though , did a drunken constable trying to touch up
a 15 year old girl and getting a well deserved slap from her mother
play a big part in the mess that unfolded from then on ?

Interesting to note I didn't see any mention of him being a hero in the article or being said by any poster in this thread bar those that have jumped straight in to criticize.

As the man himself once said, "Such is Life"

As is my prerogative being the instigator of this thread so I end it.
