Deep Sky Stacker help

I have been imaging the Dumbbell Nebula over the last few days and posted a quick image that i had done. It had around 20 mins of light.

Thinink i could do a whole let better I collected approx another 2 hours of subs but when i try to stack these images i get an issue

Has anyone seen this before, and can shed some light on how to fix it ?

Thanks

Stu

Possibly what we need to do here is get details on EXACTLY what you have done.

In particular any calibration frames you have plugged in that they are in the right category .... Ie darks in darks not flats etc.

The more detail you give the easier it will be to sort out... Include version of stacker and the format in which you entered the data, plus camera used etc

It does look as though somehow it's been inverted, check the output mode and that embed changes but don't save are ticked in output file.

Thanks Clive
I have 300 Lights, all registered as lights
all 25 sec exp at 400ISO
I have added 12 darks, all registered as darks
all 25 secs exp at 400 ISO

No flats, no Bias

Registered with a star detection threshold of 2% ( this might be the cause, trying 10 right now)

Stacked using the Weighted average method 5 iterations

DSS ver 3.3.3 beta 34

Images are RAW taken with a Canon 550D

300 wow that's a lot.

Star detection of 2% , it depends on how many stars you have to work with, if you set it too sensitive it's picking up noise, I think it's unlikely to be the problem, that would probably just slow it down.

When I used to use a dslr I changed everything to TIF files first, it's possible for some reason it's not handling the RAW files properly. ( I work in FITS now with no probs) it would be worth a try, but it will make for a huge file.

You could also go back to a pre beta version, sometimes Beta has a few bugs.

For simplicity sake you could just do a simple average stack and darks with TIFs and see how that works.

I am unaware of any issues with stacking 300 images although 50 is probably about the most I've done.

Try those and get back to us.
