Grey Fantail

These small birds never sit still, always hopping and darting about catching small insects along the fence line.I managed a few images today.Image one was taken late in afternoon-around 4 pm-so I used AV 5.6,speed was 400,iso 500,partial metering.Fairly pleased with this image-the pose and stance of the bird. Also no cropping and very little PP

Image two was taken earlier in the day at around 2.30 pm,so more light,so AV 8,speed 640,iso 400 partial metering. This image is a bit sharper than one,but I like one better, these birds tend to sit 'long and flat' most of the time-as in image two, which is cropped and had a tad more work in PP-curves and some sharpening.

Critique and comments welcome. Thanks for looking-Chris

Beaut creamy backgrounds Chris. Nice and sharp and I like the second one most. Something is missing that i can't quite put my finger on though... I will have another look and think about it.

I am watching your posts with this lens with much interest mate because as soon as I can afford one....

Baz.

Lovely shots Chris. I especially like the sharpness and light in the second one. I was out yesterday trying to photograph the Grey Fantail that hangs around our place and he nearly flew straight into the lens. Too quick for me to catch and then he just kept moving around. Another day! They are such sweet little birds.
