A fast car?

I dropped in to see an old friend yesterday , who was quite smitten by what landed in his driveway the day before .

A crazy small car with 400+hp behind the drivers seat

No wonder they banned the class 25 years back.

When I was a teenager I saw a Mini Cooper with the front seats removed the accelerator, brake and clutch pedels and steering wheel moved back to the rear seat and a V8 engine installed in the front. Very frightening.

Now THAT looks interesting !!
Group B, REAL fun stuff !! Awesome.

We watched a full Group B Audi Quatro a few weeks back doing track laps and wheel spinning in 3rd on rally Tyres !! Also made a bloody good fist of it on the skid pan round the cones.
Hampton Downs had an old racer celebratory day. Formula Pacific ( 5 litre V8 's) Speedway track cars, old bangers from long ago. The Track is only 43 (Yep, we've timed it ) minutes down the motorway from home.

( My motorsports interest goes back a a long way. I used to do event photography and I've driven a few cars in anger on gravel and track )

Mental!
Mad as a box of frogs!
Love it.
So much CAR-nage waiting to happen.

I remeber watching the Group Bs racing in England and Wales in the 80s. They were like Kangaroos on crack. All over the place and barely controlled.
It was a poor weekend if at least one spectator wasn't sent to the hospital by one of these.

We have just the roads for it round here. He's welcome to bring it any time.

I don't care that the modern Group A rally cars are setting the same stage times with under half the horsepower (The march of technology)

THE ultimate rally car for me is still the Audi S1. The NOISE, OH THE NOISE!

Ahhh horse power love it, those cars would be excellent to drive, nothing beats good HP for putting smile on your dial. When I left school had V8 cars (still do,) and road and trail bikes till a taxi cleaned me up and nearly killed me. Promised my wife I would never get another bike. Been suffering from a HP diet for over 10 years won't get another bike, till a mate of mine from Watson racing (jetskis) told me to do the HP addiction on water, less chance of killing yourself and the best part,no coppers to speed test.
So we built up my yamaha FZS ski with alot bigger supercharger than stock heaps of mods and Motec race ECU, it has nearly 400HP and weighs 350kgs, . The ride is sick, performance wise it would keep up with an F1 car to 110kms hrs (2.5 secs). It runs faster than Motecs test ski in this video. Good work stress relief on Saturday mornings. Poor mans drag car.

Just don't tell my wife, she thinks its just a normal ski.
