helix through fog and severe light pollution and poor transparency and seeing and ...
its every nightmare that you could imaging - intermittent fog, smoke, light pollution from far and wide, a layered atmosphere of crud and next door neighbours from hell. its not pretty and it will win no malin's but i did it, its mine, i got the bugger. slightly cropped due to the fog (lost the guide star then reacquired it) and slightly eggy stars due i think to a poor choice of guide settings . 4h 10min (lost over 2 hours with other problems of fog.....) iso 800 cooled canon40D through a CLS filter in a 127ED.... i give you the Frankenstein Helix......
.. Great build up to the night from hell David... you should write novels!
Man what a night and I reckon you did a great job considering.
For what it's worth, you might have to start bribing your neighbours.. if they're drinkers slip em a six pack, if they're big drinkers go for a slab, with a comment like, would be it ok if you leave your outside lights off tonight?? please..
When all else fails, might be cheaper to hire a hit man .
You still got the beastie, the outer loop is clearly visible .
Neighbours..... Every astronomer Ends up getting those ones, like moths to a flame, it seems they want to help you see your way around in the dark..... As if.

Now now... what's wrong with that shot? Looks pretty good from here. You're getting hormonal like the big man? Don't tell me it's airborne now... As long as the wind blows North I'll be safe
Yeh, having spent 7 days of my life in 09 going through hell to image this baby, even with hormones (see attached) and considering the enviroment you are in, I recon this looks pretty darn good .
