NGC6188 in Ha at 3900mm.

This is a predictable subject to image but I wanted some strong Ha to test the new ATIK11002M. And also, I wanted to test my new OAG setup with my EdgeHD14".

I had been plagued by elongated stars when using a piggy-back guiding rig and run out of things to tighten or tweak. So I decided to try to guide at a FL of 3900 - not easy and finding a guide-star problematic but here is 90 mins worth of Ha and 50 mins of O3. That's all I could manage before my Dec motor started to stall. (It's always something.)

I have not stopped yet to ask how to process this data so I've just stacked them in DSS and pushed it around a bit in PS.

The real message in the images is about tackling the elongated stars AND showing that an EdgeHD14" can illuminate a sensor this size (43mm diagonal).

Not bad for such a long focal length (and for a guy with a chimp for a head )

How long were the subs?

Can you post a larger file?

Got a picture of your setup?

Am I asking to many questions?

Mike

Not bad? LOL. That's freakin' awesome Peter. Best close up on IIS to date I reckon, by a long shot. Well done. Got that guiding nailed too. Inspiring stuff.

PS: played with your data and did a quick combine. It will really shine when you add Sii.

You need some surf music to go with that, Peter. Wipeout, perhaps?

A great result!

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Marc. That's very kind of you. I did manage 2 hours of S2 last night so I'll be playing with that extra data today.

Hi Mike,
the Ha and O3 were all 10 minute subs but the SII I did last night were 20 minutes - got an hour in before seeing deteriorated too much.
I attach the SII stack to see if anyone wants to have a play with the Ha anf O3 I posted earlier.
And, as requested, here's a pic of the rig.
Peter

Here's my shot at it. Had to scale the Sii a bit. Your post was smaller than the two other channels. Still a corker though. You should aim for the prawn next.
