My New Parts Are Here!!

I'm very excited! My new parts for my scope have arrived!!

http://tinyurl.com/3hzw22n

The focuser is a work of art!! The WO stock focuser is nice, but the Moonlite just looks awesome. It is also a bit bigger in person than it looks, so I put my phone next to it for a size comparison.

I ordered the focuser with a high res stepper that is Robofocus compatible, and this way I end up with a spare Robofocus motor so I can chuck it on my GSO RC8 in a few months when I get one.

I am itching for some decent time and weather now! I have been putting it off until these two lots arrived(saved up, shipping etc, you know how it goes!!). All that remains from this project is to get some narrow band filters as this is the way I want to go.

Now, back to the Robofocus instruction manual!!

Nice Gray. I did not know that Moonlite does a compatible focusor for robofocus. This is my next step in automation for the obs. Been looking at this for some time now. Tell me more? Looking forward to your narrow band images mate.

Moonlites are great focusers especially for AP. Paul, Ron uses the same pinout for the stepper motor as Robofocus so all moonlite focusers with stepper motors can be controlled by the robofocus controller just as the moonlite controller can be used to control the robofocus units. The moonlite solution is just much neater then the robofocus unit.

Ah excellent. I have a moonlite for my planetary rig already, but knowing that I can use one for my imaging for DSO work is another option.

Hi Paul

You must send a non-motorised MoonLite focuser back to Ron for a retrofit - it's not user field-installable - and you can order the deluxe handcontroller or just a PC-USB type controller too

Yep, the ML precision stepper motor ones are great!

Cheers
Bill
