UNITRON 60mm ( 2.4 inch ) refractor with EQ tripod $ 450.00 ONO
I have for Sale a 60 mm ( 2.4 inch ) UNITRON refrator with EQ mount.( model 128 I think ) with 0.96 to 1.25 inch eyepiece adaptor and 1.25 inch diagonal.
I will also throw in a 0.96 eyepiece with the scope.
The telescope OTA has been partially restored but needs a little more work to bring it back to its original state.
The main telescope tube suffered a " ding " when I bought it, which has been knocked out and re-painted in antique white and looks good. Even though the paint job is great, it really needs another sand and another coat of paint to make it look original again as the paint job still shows a few sanding marks on the tube from when it was sanded before re-painting. ( re-painted by a business.... not by me )
It also has a broken projection mount which does not affect the visual observing, but it doesn't have the projection bracket, arm or holder anymore. It just has the broken bracket base which has the original screws etc to hold it onto the OTA tube.
The tripod has been modified with chain to hold the legs equidistant from each other and has had the the leg brackets modified to hold the legs in place when the tripod legs are extended into place. ( One of the original brackets on the leg was missing but I still have the other 2 if needed if I can find them )
The telescope still functions very well despite bit of mould between the doublet objective lens.
The small finder has had new cross hairs fitted as the original ones were off centre. The finder may need slight adjustments to the objective lenses make the image in the finder a bit more sharp. ( the image is OK but has a colour fringe when looking at bright objects such as the MOON )
All in all its a beaut scope and I have had much enjoyment using it on its equatorial tripod and also mounted onto my LX200 as a decent finder-scope.
I will also include the home made bracket that will attach to a 10 inch LX200 Meade SCT ( all the bits needed including screws and brackets )
PLEASE note that this does not include my Williams optics RINGS....just the bracket which mounts to my LX with its brackets to fit the 10 inch tube. You will need your own rings for the Unitron.
This scope has sharp images when I have used it for double stars and is a great example of the 60's and 70's scope quality that is known by the UNITRON brand.
I will part with it for around $450.00 ONO to a loving home or enthusiast who wants to restore it to its former beauty.
Silly offers trying to push the price down will be ignored.
The reason for the sale is to try and raise funds for a camera such as a canon for Luna and planetary imaging.
Please post a reply or PM if interested.
I will be happy to deliver it ( or meet someone ) just South of the Hawksbury River to anyone in Sydney who wants it. Or to Just North of Gosford if you wish.
Thanks for looking.
Sorry to everyone that has sent emails and pm's to me re: this scope.
I have been inundated with many messages that have ended up in a mess due to duplicate Pm's from IIS website being sent as emails.
I have to give priority to IanT who was first to contact me regarding this scope.
I am currently trying to find a courier to send this to IanT for me.
If the scope isnt taken by IanT ( and it looks like it will be if I can get a courier ) I will post on IIS accordingly.
Once again, sorry to all those who emailed me, I have never received as many emails and pm's about something as I have for this.
Rgds.
Geoffro.
