hi and help please

hi everyone. I've been a reader here for sometime, and finally bought a telescope and registered.

i have an isue though.

i have a c8-ngt and am keen on astro-photography. the scope works 100% unguided, but i'm now wanting to try my hand at longer exposures, so i'm wanting to go auto-guided.

i have all the hardware/software bits and pieces and my last step was installing all the software on my win7x64 pc.

installation went fine, but none of the software (nexremote, or cdc, or even ascom dignostics) will 'see' the telescope. i've followed a number of tutorials to double check i hadn't missed any steps, and i'm confident that i've done everything corerctly.

i made my own cable from jaycar components(rj11-rj45, and a rj45-serial adpt), and i have continuity everywhere, so it seems to either be perhaps an error/fault on the HC, or some sort of port issue on my pc. i've tried reassigning the serial-usb adaptor several differnt ports, just incase of conflicts, but still no joy.

any help would be very helpful and welcome.

thanks.

Hi.

Can you be a bit more specific as to what you actually have software wise.

If you want to guide you'll need the following.

A planatarium software like Starry Night.
Guiding software like PHD Guiding.
And the ascom software with the driver for your scope make and model.

Do you have these?

Let me know and I'll check back in and we can get you started.

Thanks
