Saturn March 31st fair to average conditions

Hi All,

Imaged Saturn this morning over a 3 hr session with RGB & 807nm IR data sets at approx 30 min intervals. The quality of the seeing continually swung up & down but was adequate to resolve detail within the storm structure.

Have attached an RGB & 807nm IR data set along with animations of all the RGB & IR data. The RGB animation also includes Tethys & Dione.
Both animations show spoke like structure in the morning ansae of the "B" ring.

Detail still showing, I think the storm is blotting out somewhat and not standing out so much although seeing can affect contrast, but rings seem so much brighter now almost luminous compared with disc.

Thanks for the updates Trevor especially the animations. I think my knowledge of Saturn has increased exponentially over the last few months due to the posts of you and other like minded planetary images.

Thanks Troy, my new primary is not far off now, the last I heard from Mark was that it would be aluminized after the SPSP weekend. I see a trip to Sydney in the not too distant future.

Thanks so much Derek, this electrical storm on Saturn is without precedence and so it is really important to capture data of how it evolves.

Thanks John, I think the quality of the seeing, rather than any actual drop off in intensity of the storm, is the reason behind any perceived change in resolution between our data sets at the moment.

Thanks very much Tom, the spoke structure in the rings has been most prevalent over the last several months but we need reasonable conditions and large amounts of data to animate them.

Have been playing with RegiStax 6 last night and today and have attached another version of the RGB posted at the start of this thread.
Regi 6 is certainly faster, have trialled various routines but in the end, other than the number of alignment points, have just adapted my previous Regi 5 routine to Regi 6.
