Saturn March 11th in good seeing.

Hi All,

imaged Saturn this morning over a 2 1/5 hr session in generally good seeing.

Have 5 RGB & 807nm IR data sets that I have put into animations with links below.

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/uploads...SatRGBanim.gif
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/uploads...1SatIRanim.gif

Have also attached 2 RGB &807nm IR data sets showing the head and overlap of the storm. There is some very nice structure to be seen in the head of the storm and fainter but still quite distinct structure in the overlap of the tail. Note in the 2nd RGB the small white spot at the approx CM but toward the North Polar region.

Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

The second RGB and IR are the best and very sharp banding in the IR and IR animation looking so good. May get a stab myself Sunday - misty here tonight.

John.

Nice capture Trevor. Your work, and the work of others, gives those who might not be able to see Saturn for themselves the opportunity of viewing it in all its glory. Beautiful planet. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Graeme, it does look good in RGB but IR shows a whole different perspective.

Thanks Matt, not for some time, I hope. We have opposition in about 3 weeks while the storm continues to be very active. The structure in various regions of the storm continue to evolve. Last year I was able to image Saturn through to the end of July. Jupiter and Mars will be in the morning sky again in couple of months.

Thanks David, a good Ortho would certainly provide most excellent views of Saturn, I have 4mm & 6mm Otho's that work very well with the planets.

John.
Thanks John, hope it clears up for you. The main thing I try and achieve with my images is to provide enough resolution so that the detail within the storm structure can be measured by the researchers that I send it to.

Thanks Michaell, yep, it shows no sign of diminishing at all. Hope it lasts long enough to create a new record.

Thanks Derek, missed it, of late all I have been doing is capturing data, processing and very occassionally sleeping.
