Leo Triplet

One hour and 50 minutes of some quite ordinary data.
I was wondering why my guiding was up the creek, the cables from the guide cam had managed to get wrapped around the draw tube. (trailing in every single bleeding sub ) Thank goodness for the Star Rounder plug in.
So...
5x5min and the rest were just 3min @ iso800.
Canon 20d ( modded )
HEQ5Pro
ED80
This is my first time using a modded cam, and it was an interesting but fun learning curve re. colour balancing.
I'm sure everyone is bursting at the seams to tell me a simple one step method to doing it right first time every time.

Hey, that's great Jeanette!

I reckon you can go a bit harder in Photoshop and stretch a bit more.

You have relatively clean blacks there, too, so, it can withstand a bit of levels and curves work.

Great field of view and gives me ideas to try of my own.

It's still a work in progress H, aren't they all, until you capture new data?
Thanks for looking.

I know, I should be out there again tonight. The mount is all set up, but the heat and humidity have sucked the energy out of me. LOL

A great result there.

Did you setup a custom white balance for your modded DSLR?

If you do the images come out almost colour correct and only a slight red bias instead of a massive one.

Greg.

I think that's a wonderful job you're doing that. But next time I recommend dithering and see if you can crank some colour out of them stars

Nice looking image for only one hour 50 minutes. I agree with the observation it could be stretched some more though. I think that would make it even better.

Cheers
