AirPrint only to HP printers?

What's the point if I don't have a HP printer?

Is there an app or something that lets me print from the iPad, iPhone, iPod (all running iOS4.2) to other wi-fi connected printers?

I have a Canon Wi-fi connected printer and can print from my laptops fine..

The other printers are coming shortly. I've heard that it has been a protocol copyright issue of some kind. I'm in the same boat - I run a Canon MP-640. Until then, there are a bunch of apps that let you print via your desktop, but I'd wait and have it available at OS level.
