Tools of the trade

This was taken during a few spare hours on the breakwater at Portland Vic.

Fishing line was strewn over the rocks, monofilament and braid, along with discarded bait packets and so on.

Anyway, this rusting hook, shock leader and braid, among the seaweed caught my eye.

Used a saturation curve to bring out the colours.

It is a rather "busy" image - meaning the eye does not quite know where to look. Its a shame the person who discarded the tackle does not take better care of the environment. Full marks for attempting this composition.

Just a point on the saturation. It's been used excessively and the ground and rocks have turned to a purple colour. This is most likely a result of exacerbating chromatic aberration. Knock it back a bit and it might look better!

Thanks for looking. It is a busy image and on second thoughts over saturated. Wherever you look at that location it's messy/busy.

Hooks are easily dropped and difficult to locate but tend to rust away. Line on the other hand has a big impact on wildlife, particularly with the advent of braid.

Leave only footprints and take only photographs.
