The long-forgotten video recording was uncovered during a decade-long search for the original video recordings of the moonwalk, and involved lengthy detective work and clandestine meetings, says astronomer and telescope operator John Sarkissian from the CSIRO at Parkes, who headed up the search.

John Sarkissian provided an entertaining presentation on the search for the missing
Apollo 11 tapes at Border Stargaze in 2009.

Could someone ask Buzz why he didn't take any photos of Armstrong on the moon?

Hi Ron,

As much as I would like to, unfortunately I won't be attending.

I did get to wave to Armstrong, Aldrin & Collins when they passed in the
motorcade here in Sydney in November of 1969.

John Sarkissian tells a nice story of a time when Aldrin was out in Australia
in more recent times.

Aldrin had written a children's book and there was a long queue for the book signing.
Aldrin's minders instructed those in the queue that Buzz would only be available
to sign the book and that there would be no opportunity to shake hands, seek
other autographs or engage in discussion and so on.

However, John's boy was wearing a Buzz Lightyear T-Shirt, apparently to the
embarrassment of his mother and if I recollect the story correctly, she apologized
to Buzz for her son's attire. "No problem!", laughed Buzz. "I am wearing my Buzz
Lightyear tie" which he then showed off to the family. It was the instant ice breaker
and the Sarkissian family were afforded a little extra time to converse with the man.

Hopefully John will get another opportunity to meet Buzz in a week's time.
