I have a question here everyone......

I have spoken to the gentleman at CQin p/l regarding what ''reflectivity rating'' his coating provides and was given an answer of 90 -91%, which I believe is an honest answer.

After speaking to an elderly gent at Astro Optical Supplies regarding ''high'' and superior mirror coating reflectivity claims, I tend to believe that we are possibly misled on some of the ''ultra bright'' coatings that manufacturers specify

A.O.S. clearly stated that the best possible with aluminim coating is around the 90% figure and that 98% falls in to the invisible spectrum and does not provide any visual gain that is noticeable

Can someone clarify the truth on this?

Cheers,
Rob.

At the same time as I spoke to them last time, they commented that for a 16'' mirror they would not bother as it costs more to ''fire up the unit''...whatever that means?

Don't know about smaller mirrors though.
