I have a new job.. and I'm off to America!
Hi guys
Thanks for all your recent support and feedback after being made redundant and having the skin cancer cut out.
The good news is - I've just landed myself a new job!
I'm now the Product Manager - Software at RPData in Sydney. It's a great role - plenty of opportunity to make my mark in a fast growing company, and it's still in the Real Estate Software industry, so everything I've learned over the past 2.5 years at my previous company is still relevant!
What's more, I start on Monday, and on my first day, I've got to fly to America! I'll be there for a week, in Sacramento and San Francisco!
I've never been overseas before, so this is huge.. and rushed! But I can't wait.
Thanks again for your support. Things are looking up now, and hopefully I can get back into Astronomy once life settles down a bit!
Cheers

Quick - let's open a shopping thread and we can all make our list for a bulk order. Hope you have massive luggages Mike!

Congratulations on the new job Mike. Overseas trips can be a bit daunting for anyone the first time. Having someone to meet you helps.
How much excess baggage do you get allowed. You used to be able to convert it to unaccompanied baggage and get about 5 times as much. Be carefull of your CC don't get more than I can afford.

Good stuff Mike. Congrats - sounds ideal for you.
I used to fly to New York every couple of weeks for 3 years. It's the additional LA to NY leg that delivers the worst jet lag, not the Sydney/LA or LA/Sydney legs. You won't sleep a wink anyway. New job, international travel - good luck with the zzzzz's. LOL! Take lots of books with you on the iPad.
Get back to astronomy? MMmmmm... me thinks you'll be busier than ever at work.

Rule number one - don't take a family size toothpaste tube in your carry-on - you'll lose it! (I know! )
Great news about the job! Have a great trip!

Wonderful news Mike.
gee you're going to be rushing to get a passport through in time.
Jet lag is the pits, if you can stay awake until it's bedtime in your time zone, that should nail it on the head.

Excellent News Mike!
I have been to SF twice, you will love the place! Hopefully you get some free time in the evenings to check out some of the great attractions like Fishermans wharf, where you can grab a clam chowder in a sourbread soupbowl, you won't regret it!
