That was a good show....very interesting, especially from an historical perspective of the mission and where we are now.

I almost missed recording it last night, now how embarassing would that be! I went through the TV guide after tea and realised it was on, we had a dancing lesson from 9:00 so I couldn't watch it live. Hopefully I can get to it by the weekend, busy, busy, busy at the moment.

Yep. Good show. Great effects etc.
There's actually some very interesting issues raised by the entire makeup up of the atmosphere and surface chemistry of Titan (which the show only very lightly touched on).
I'm going to have a go at adding a new post to the 'Astronomy and Amateur Science' board for discussion if anyone's interested. - That's when I get the chance to assemble the thinking !
Yes, I know .. I'm a masochist at heart. Especially seeing as there's a ferocious Geologist/Astrophysicist living there, (ie: on the board), who lurks in wait of unwary prey!
Onya, Carl !

Cheers & Best Rgds to all.

Steven makes me look like a kitten when it comes to relativity/QFT and the like. Although, I can hold my own in many areas when I have to

What got me was the specs of the radio transmission from Cassini. Less than the output of a mobile phone at a distance of 1532.5 million Km .

Yep, they're not very powerful transmitters
But they do the job well enough.
Just think, that phone call you made home to ask what's for tea, about 10 years ago, is now nearly passing on by Epsilon Eridani and any passing starship in the area. They'll hear "What's for tea..." and then they'll decide to have something to eat themselves

I watched this last night before tea. Excellent show I must say. I think because it is a British production, rather than American, it didn't have an excess of hyperbole.

That's why they make far better documentaries than the Americans. The American TV companies have always been people to make things out as something they're not, or to stretch things in order to make it sound like it's the only thing or best thing since sliced bread. That ruins most shows.
