Randwick Girls High School Oval
Tuesday August 10th at 6pm Venus, Mars and Saturn
will be very close together in the Western Sky just after sunset. Mercury will be somewhat lower.
I intend on taking my scope to the oval. I know that that time and mid week may be difficult for some to join in but you are welcome all the same.
Enter via gate opposite the hospital. If bringing a scope turn left at the 3rd driveway between trees and domed building.

Cancelled Event
Having to cancel the viewing tonight due to the weather. I was originally planning a 6pm start so as to be able to see Mercury and the the trio slightly higher (Saturn, Venus and Mars). Around the 12th the New Moon joins in the stella dance. I'm happy to reschedule but realise the difficulty you have in getting to Randwick early enough to take advantage of the sunset event.
I am currently thinking Friday evening weather permitting of course.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers

Weather permitting then Friday it is! I'll be set up by 6 p.m. on the oval feel free to come along and join us. I had some very disappointed students when Tuesday had to be cancelled. I'll do my best to get the message out to them. See you there. If for some reason we have to postpone again watch this space.

No scope, no worries. The students who come won't have a scope either.
Actually, if you like, the school has a great 8" dob donated by Geoff you might like to have a go with. Nothing like testing the water than by jumping in!
I'll be looking at bringing Odessius, and a pair of binos set up on a tripod- you'll be amazed how good binos are as astro-gear, even from the big smoke.
