ic1274/75 ic4658 region RGB in ultra high resolution

this was taken using an AP180EDT f/9 with 2.7" flattener and a Proline 39000C (one shot color) camera. It is a total of 4H 15M.

I used a Baader IR blocking luminance filter to avoid color problems with the Bayer color filter array's leaking of NIR.

here's a 5 second long terrestrial shot taken just before sunrise using the same camera with the lum filter. Unless that IR blocking is used the color balance gets totally fouled up.

Caution: this is about 38Mpixels!

beautiful smooth image - good to see what an OSC can do in a high quality setup. Thanks for posting it Richard.

You are posting some beauties Rich, you like that 39000 huh?

You have described a number of your image posts as "High" or "Ultra High" resolution versions, are you refering to the intrinsic fine details visible in the image or rather the number of pixels per arc sec (Lotsa Crisp pixels )? I am assuming the latter?

Great setup and huge camera!!!. 39 megs a pickle...monster numbers

Still, Kodak could do a bit of re-engineering with the chip to improve QE and such.

These are quite outstanding images but I do note a tendency for the bulk of stars in RGB images to lack distinctive colouring

Probably the star issue arose because of the way I processed the data. I wanted to not blow out the brighter parts so I didn't stretch as much as I may have been able to do. at the time I took that image, I was pretty new to using one shot color sensors. It was one of my earlier OSC shots. I have found ways to refine my processing of that class of images since I took that image too... Still it is a fun image from my perspective
