Will this Laptop suit a TouCam?

Yeah, I know, I'm totally computer dumb but I don't want to go and and get one of these coz it's cheap and find out it's no good.

My question is: will this laptop be OK for a TouCam?

it will run a toucam but it would be awfully slow and probably drop out from time to time.

As Mick said, it will run it, but the 2 problems are:

- Disk space: you'll run out pretty quickly
- CPU/Memory: it's very light on memory and you'll most likely get a lot of dropped frames.

My recommendation is no.

What OS will you put on it? It would probably only cope with Win98se. USB support is marginal in Win98, but the ToUCam drivers have been around for ages so shouldn't be a problem... I reckon it'll probably work ok, but wouldn't bet on it.... Follow Mike's advice!
Cheers

For a couple of hundred dollars more, you could pick up something suitable off Ebay.

You'll really want something around 800 Mhz with 256M RAM. 128M RAM as a minimum.

No Ken,

You'll be struggling, even if it does work it'll freeze.
Your better off saving up for something more substantial.
Just my opinion.

It will run it, but i would not be processing on it at all ie registax.

3gb of disk space is very small. One of my moon vid's using the toucam at prime focus was 1gb!!!!
I would want at least 20gb of hard disk space!

Thanks all. Beren also PM'd me and said that the lappy on the link sucks! That pretty well sums it up I guess.

I am supposedly getting my old pooter back in the next couple of days so I will use that on a trolley until the Dollar Fairy pays a visit! In the meantime if you hear of any cheapies that would be suitable, please let me know. I also have to look at a few laptop sites Darren (Wombat) sent me.
