Hi All,

Another test image from last night using the new scope...

Can't remember what subs I did, but I think 12 x 2 minutes for the luminance, and 6 x 1 minute for the RGB binned 2x2.

There's a 50% reduced image and a native resolution core crop.

Interesting colouring in the stars, is that from using Luminance and RGB?

The reason I ask is because the one I took of M22 here (albeit with a 1000D) doesnt have the blue and yellow stars like yours.

I suspect its because I dont have enough data, probably.

Very good start with the RC, the stars came out nice and round and the core is nicely resolved.

Hi Chris,

Yes LRGB image. Both globs I imaged last night had quite strikingly coloured stars. I hope that this is the extra photons gathered by the extra aperture, who knows?

I looked at you image, there are faint hints of colour in your image, but as often happens with OSC images when stretched, the stars lose colour information.

Another very promising test image. I assumed it was the GSO 10 inch RC and saw your list - its a Deep Sky Instruments 10RC. Was this the one for sale on Astromart recently or did you get it new?

Roth Ritter has been posting super images with his 10 inch RC Astrograph for years. Your RC has the same optics I believe. RCOS don't make the 10 inch Astrograph anymore which is a shame.

That's very exciting Stuart. There's a world of imaging opportunity with that scope and camera combo. The 10XME would be great for
globs and galaxies and an STL11 would be great for nebulas and widefield stuff (the 10XME as well but the STL would bring out some extra zing to the images).

Yep, the DSI RC10C has optics figured by Star Optics. It also has the built in corrector. Bought off Astromart, it's essentially new anyway, the PO hadn't had it long and it turned out to be quite cheap in the end apart from the shipping, which I would have had to pay anyway. Is it better than the 10" GSO RC? Don't know, but certainly ready to go out of the box.

Great star colours, and yes the colours are real. The blues are from Blue Stragglers which are common in GC's: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_straggler

I 'd be surprised if it isn't way better than the GSO10 inch RC as it has Star Optics mirrors probably configured very highly. Paul Jones has been doing RC optics for a long time and supplies or used to supply RCOS their mirrors.
