different nagler numbers? 4,5,6

hey all just a quick question about naglers..

Can anyone tell me what the different numbers on naglers represent?
are the 4's better than the 6's and so forth?
or is it just a reference to different optics in the lense chamber?

Hi Michael, probably the most notable difference is the longer eye relief of the type 4 naglers. The Televue website has more information:
