jupiter 2 follow up :)

hello people

for those people that have downloaded jupiter 2 program

http://www.astrosurf.com/rondi/jupiter/

the question has been raised to the user settings they are being lost when restarting the program

ive emailed the author the other day and this was his response

" Hi John!
And thanks a lot for the kind message and for your interest in Jupiter2!
Well your suggestion is excellent and I took some times to see if it was feasible... and it seems it's simpler than I thought.
So I'll try to improve the program with the use on an .ini file to save the user's preferences.
Well, I don't work on it every day as I'm busy with my formal work, but I'll try to do it soon...
Thanks again,
Cheers,
Sylvain.

PS: Glad to see that my software is used even in Australia! :-) "

perhaps someone in this forum knows how ?

Excellent work, looks like he'll release a new version in the near future which will use an INI file to save user settings.

Hey Vindictive.

Can you ask him to allow calculation of the GRS in "local time", instead of UTC?

On the "ephemeris" tab, you have a cool feature to calculate the GRS transit times for the next X days, but the data is returned in UTC time, and my brain doesn't want to add 11 hours to it.

If you could use a "+11" box like on the first tab, that'd be great.

He's your friend now, right?? He won't mind me asking for this

Its easy Mike. Get rid of Daylight savings and you only have to add 10

I'd rather add 12 than 10, at least that way I just have to swap AM and PM

Vindictive can you ask him to sort the time zones into half hours? Our time is currently 10.50 hours ahead of UT. The program does not allow for the half hour and as a result it is inaccurate. Good program though and pretty accurate in terms of how the moons look.

Good going Vind.

Yep, GRS in local time would be great too, especially during the early hours of the morning.
