Purchased new from Bintel in September 2007.
This is a regretful sale... I'm going to replace this with an 8" sct so that I can take the family and a telescope away without having to tow a trailer
I've added several modifications to the telescope:
- Bob's knobs and stiffer primary springs
- Argo Navis (purchased April 2009), on adjustable stalk
- Trusses and rings have been powder coated black
- Ripstop nylon shroud, and ripstop/foam dew shield
- Coreflute board installed behind mirror to improve airflow
- Potplant dish modified to fit the top of primary tube
- Secondary dew heater installed (not selling with the controller though)
- Bintel RACI viewfinder
- Base has been cut down from circular to square, and a plywood ground board has replaced the original chipboard version. Removable handles and wheels makes it easy to move the telescope as a complete unit.
The Argo Navis comes with a Serial Cable, Keyspan USB Serial Adapter, 12v battery cigarette lighter adapter, CD with manual, and a printed version of the manual.
The telescope is in very good condition, apart from some cosmetic marks and scratches on the OTA and base. See photos for details. I've only cleaned the mirror once since new, and the mirror could do with a clean, but it doesn't seem to be affecting the views.
Comes with the original Meade QX 26mm wide field eyepiece, and a Bintel 40mm 2" eyepiece.
Selling for $2000 firm.
I'm happy to deliver the scope anywhere within an hour of Thornbury, or you are welcome to pick it up.
