"Fruity" Rho Region Widefield

Hello all...
Just over 3 hours of data + old NB stuff (varying quality of RGB subs - thin mist/cloud playing havoc) Still, the darks over ICNR thing seems to be working well for me...all this data (RGB) was recorded in the one session.

"Played around with" more than processed I think!
Colours look very fruity with loads of dust around too - what a region!

I'm always striving for the definitive Rho - unfortunately this aint it!

Phil Hart's recent mosaic is the best I've seen in a long time.

Details...
Canon 40D (modded)
Canon 70-200mm f4L lens...70mm @ f4
iso 1600, 21x10min subs
Some dodgy Ha and OIII data incorporated from last year - kept on hard drive and unused till now (more trouble than it was worth I think!!).
HEQ5 Pro mount
ImagesPlus/PS4

Cheers for noo!

Doug

Doug,

3 hours is no mean feat. Well done.

I reckon you've got a blue cast here and it's tending the blue stars more to a violet/purple. Reckon you can lower it?

Thanks for the comments/advice H.
I've tried toning down the blue channel a tad.
Cheers

Tutti Frutti Rho Ophucci!
Dammit, I'm in top form this morning.
It's one of my favourite regions.

It's not often Les and I are on the forum at the same time. Funny, I see more of your Dad and brother don't I Les.
Do you feel privileged Doug? To have visits from both of us this morning.
You might want to add this to the "I've met famous people" thread.

Nice one Doug.

I have been imaging this one myself over the last few weeks. Its the biggest imaging project I have undertaken and am up to about 40 hours of exposure time now. Now to sit down and process it all - uhhhh.

Greg.

You're right Trevor - always nice to see those colours pop out during processing.

Doug, nice framing and great colours. Just seeing the blue caste myself. Perhaps take care of that and you have yourself a winner.

Very very nice Doug. Going to try something like this with the FSQ and reducer and see what I end up with. I am reading up on mosaics and it sounds like there is plenty of pitfalls to steer clear of.
Nice job.

Cheers Doug - I'd like to try a mosaic soon with my 300mm lens too. The FSQ mosaics posted here by jase etc are just in a different league. Go for it "Hagar the Horrible"!!!

hey doug

that's still pretty deep! eg the faint red glow left of centre at the top edge is real.

i'm interested in the purple halos around the stars (as i have been struggling with red or cyan halos with the same camera but different lens). do you get the same colour stars with different lenses?

i'd be interested in having a quick look at your calibrated and stacked file before any development/colour tweaking and see how it looks with my quick process routine.. to see whether it's your lens or coming out in your processing?

yousendit.com or something to hello at philhart.com if you're interested..

Phil

Cheers Phil - be aware that I've tried to blend in some Ha and OIII data to this too so there may be the violet stars/salmon pink nebula problem with the final image going on!?
I've sent the RGB stack (42Mb) to hello@philhart.com via yousendit for you to play with - if you make the image "sing" I will want to know all your processing secrets
Doug
