Interested in 80mm and 120mm rings and looking for other bits.
I'm failing new to EQs just boughta HEQ5 pro and Orion 100mm f6 refratctor looking at rigging up my Canon 50D to same need some balance gear for V dovetail rails.
I live near Ferny Grove and reugularly babysit my grandkids at Kenmore so could drop over when convenient.
No problem, I'll PM you my contact details. I just bought a set of fancy WO rings for my guidescope to mate with my WO OTA rings, so my existing 100mm guide rings with nylon adjust screws will soon be available as well.
I'm not sure of what means (threaded holes etc) there are for attaching a vixen bar to the top of a Meade. I made up a couple of little curved plates to attach one to some existing holes on the top of my C8, and it works well.
How big (OTA diam) is the refractor? I did what you want to do, but put the rings piggybacked on my WO 80 as it had convenient holes in the top of its rings, and it was a little less ungainly than putting it on top of the C8, which sits SBS. I've now got a spare set of 100mm sliding rings with nylon bolts if that's any help.
I have a used locally-made SBS plate, vixen style, but the holes are poorly placed and it was a PITA to use. I then bought ADM. I wouldn't like to put a 10" SBS on the old plate, so would not try and persuade you to buy it
Sorry for just telling you what I did, when you really want to know what you can do, perhaps some Meade owners may be of more assistance. I can send you photos of my C8 lashup if it will give you any inspiration.
I have two adjustable guide rings (with the 120 degree nylon adjustment screws), these will fit an OTA of around 90mm max (~80mm scope). These rings fix by a bottom bolt to a standard vixen rail. How this rail attaches to your LX200 I don't know what bolt holes are available.
I also have two 6" tube rings, non adjustable, that are meant to hold a 6" OTA, such as a 6" Newt. These also fix to a Vixen rail.
I also have a Side By Side (SBS) vixen bar to allow mounting of two scopes side by side on a standard vixen mount. I suspect you actually are trying to mount the refractor on your LX200 as a guide scope, in which case the SBS is not applicable, and is probably a bit small for your LX200 anyway.
Thanks very much for all your help, but it looks like the rings you have are more suited to fixing stright to a mount of some kind, instead of attaching to a MEADE OTA.
I'll keep looking for a way to attach your rings to my scope ( with the bolt ) in an easily removable way, in case I can use what you have.
I'm after a set of rings to fit an 140mm dia. tube, could you let me know what the inside dia. is of the 6" rings that you have, if it's 150mm then I can pack them out to fit, no problem.
