That's the thing, it's actually really simple. The names, acronyms, and mathematical sleigh of hand methods are akin to a magic trick; it's just an art of MISDIRECTION, nothing more.

Unfortunately, it's a magic show with very real consequences and it's usually the little guys (us...Joe Public) that has to bear the brunt of the stuff ups.

That's why we need to change the entire system, but can you imagine the opposition to trying to do this...however it's going to have to happen otherwise we won't get anywhere and things will only get worse.

Carl,

In the Zeitgeist Addendum video I linked, they refer to just what you're talking about.

The Venus Project -- a resource-based economy.

I know, I've seen them both. I've been talking about this myself, for years. But this will need to be done on a global basis. Trying to do it nation by nation will only cause more problems than it's worth. There'd be that many arguments it wouldn't be funny. It'll be hard enough trying to get everyone to make the compromises needed to agree and what has to be done in order to sort the mess out. And it's not about "starving" a country of resources, or penalising the West for over consumption. It's about managing what we have a lot better than what we presently do and making sure the surplus goes to those that need it...the poorer nations, and not into "food and fuel mountains" in richer economies.

I can tell you now, what is desperately needed is for us to move off planet, especially with looking for some of our primary mineral resources. It will cost heaps and be risky, but the benefits down dollar will be much greater than the initial outlays. If they do it right, it will also help to save our environment, especially if some manufacturing is also moved off planet. We also need better energy generation and cleaner energy generation...both here and when we move off planet. Just because we end up doing stuff off planet (in space itself, on the Moon, Mars or the Asteroid Belt) doesn't mean we have to just drop our bundle in regards to our environment or safe work practices. They should actually be even stricter!!!.

If we do end up doing that, yet we don't change our present system of doing things, it will only get worse...much worse. This planet's first multi-trillionaire will come from the off planet resources and manufacturing boom. He or she will have so much money, they'll make Bill Gates look like a pauper. They'll have the equivalent of Bill's/Microsoft's wealth sitting in the petty cash tin on the desk in their office. The rich will only get insanely richer and the rest of us will be in even less a position to make a living, especially the poorer amongst us. Then if you think the megacorporations run everything now, by then they will be the government!!!.

It's all up on YouTube, for free viewing.

All this financial, economic, commerce stuff goes straight over my head. I don't understand any of it -- it's all smoke and mirrors.

Once my car loan, HECS and credit card is paid off, the bank will never see a cent of mine again insofar as a mortgage goes; as much as it sucks, I will continue to rent.

You need humor to swallow some of this stuff, so try to get the hist of it all (Max is my fav for a laugh).

An easy one to start off with.
