ngc5139 - new and improved ;) with more photons
last week i took this during the full moon so last night i added another 1.5 hours of data to the image by combining the two outputs through Pixinsight 1.6. Taken with the 127ED triplet, the hotech field flattener and the cooled canon 350D all in the doghouse - total time 2.5 hours iso 400. I am stoked with the result as this is really the best image i have produced by myself that i am happy with of this object. only up from here

thanks Doug, though looking at this in the morning it is still a tad to the red side - i can see a repro coming up

Nice work Dave, lovely tight stars. Seems to be a missing a bit of colour (especially some red stars) but lovely work all the same.

I think there should be more red stars. eg:

Now I know the equipment is slightly different, but the colour must be getting lost somewhere.

it is good to get the focus right - something i have struggled with for years. As for the guiding its hard to believe i had mega trouble with the 10" on the same mount - with the 127 on there i can get this result. No going backwards (or forwards?)

thats the thing that stood out to me - considering this is my real first decent go at this object - and it was done during a full moon (and slightly less ) i was amazed.
