Any recent comments on EQalign?

I have just been trialling my mount after rebalancing, etc and also changing from a QHY5 to a DSI II pro for guiding.

PHD 1.11.3 does not want to cooperate, it sees the camera and the ASCOM 5.5 scope, green star boxes, cals, does everything as expected except guide. No biggie, I decided to come inside and do some research on the subject before wailing and asking for help. I suspect it may just be a setting problem, but perhaps the little eee netbook is being worked a bit too hard, although it worked Ok with my prior QHY5 in the same configuration.

Anyway, during my searches, I came across troypiggo's poll and other thread comments on the various guiders IIS folks use, including EQalign. I then remotely installed latest v2.1.2 beta on my eeePC guide PC, but as the obs is now shut, haven't yet had a chance to try it in anger. It looks OK and behaved well so far.

Just wondering if anyone is actually using it and if so, what are the impressions?

I'm specifically looking for a lightweight low-resources guider program for the eeePC with the DSI + Ascom & CDC, as I don't want my dedicated imaging laptop connected to the mount.

Try Guidemaster - it will work on very low end laptops with no strain. Gives very good control over the guiding parameters.

Sorry mate, I've been watching this thread with interest. I tried it early days, haven't gotten back to it to see how the latest versions are. I got over my frustrations with PHD and have been using that.

OK, seems like it's been laid aside by all. I'll give it a try. Only reason is that is supports DSI, and initial looks seemed to suggest it had some nice features for a simple free guider program.

I'll get back after trying it.

I'm presently able to guide in PHD after a fashion, but still need to do some fine tuning on the mount.
