Thumbs up New SDM inspires American couple to place order on the spot

Over the weekend I was present at Coonabarabran when Peter Read delivered a
new 20" SDM to customer Bryan M. from Qld.

This scope was beautiful to behold and there were no shortage of admiring
onlookers. The attention to detail and overall finish withstood the closest of
scrutiny.

So impressed were a visiting couple from the United States that they ordered one
on the spot from Peter!

Essentially the same happened last year, when visiting enthusiast
Dr. Robert Werkman from Hershey, Pennsylvania took one look
at the 30" scope Peter built and ordered a scope from Peter on the
spot. Robert arranged for Peter to fly to the States to commission the
scope.

On the weekend, Bryan exposed his new scope to first light, for him at least,
and it was delivering fabulous views.

One could tell that Bryan had been excited about the scope because he
has already equipped himself with enough batteries and solar panels
to be self-sufficient with power for a couple of weeks at a time. The
power distribution panel he had built would not have looked out of place
on the wall of a multi-megawatt power station.

Bryan had been lucky enough to pick up an enclosed trailer out of the Trading
Post for a song. The trailer was in excellent condition and the scope fitted
perfectly. I was flattered that the group recognized that I must be by far the
strongest and fittest among them. When it came time to lifting the scope in the trailer,
Bryan grabbed the end and Peter Read and a helper grabbed one side, leaving
me to lift the other side on my own. Their faith in my Herculean weight lifting
ability was proven when we managed to carefully place the beautiful new
scope into the trailer without a scratch.

Bryan, enjoy that new scope! We only wish you could have stayed longer and
not had to rush back to work. It was great to meet you and again thanks
for also ordering the scope with the Argo Navis fitted.

Best Regards
