My Observatory in Geelong

I actually built this obs about a year ago, but I regularly get enquiries about various aspects so I thought I would post a link to my observatory page here. My web page details of the various stages of construction.
I built it using timber as I dont have the skills for working with steel and wanted to build it myself.

Thanks.
It was alot of fun. The plan was to work on it on the occassional weekend over a few months. I ended up completing the construction in about 4 weekends.

Bill, thanks for sharing your observatory project. I also had fun making a cage and setting up some formtube (457 mm dia) for a concrete pier.

I hope to get a similar account of mine on the net one day, when I find out how to make a website!

Hi Chris,
I named my observatory SERENITY. However it is anything but hehe.
It seems that every time I power it up something else goes wrong. One day the camera will ice up, next time the scope wont track, next time the software wont recognise the guide scope (even though it has been plugged into the same port for over a year), etc.

The ocassional cussing and throwing the arms in the air SERENITY NOW!!!! tends to damage any serenity within the imediate facility :-)
Gotta love the hobby.
