Mars a final version

From the 10th of October again here is a sample of the best I've been able to extract from the entire sequence. This is an LRGB image - one of only 3 or so I did on the night. Substantially less grain than the previous posts and better colour balance. Hopefully the weather will start behaving again soon

Hard to say without all the planet imagers' pictures in front of me, but initial response is that i believe this is the best i have seen.

This includes any mars pics in AS&T recently.

Congrats, this is a fine piece of work!

two weeks to go, and so many talented imagers.

Incredible shot Steve, beautifully processed.

I'm the same as you though, with all this cloud the last few days nothing to do but process older avi's

That's definitely one of the best Mars shots going around, very nice work. Very detailed and smooth.

A lot of the pics of Mars in AS&T were Steve's from the 2003 opposition

Steve (Videoguy), was this shot taken from an observatory or with telescope out in the open? Just wondering about the secrets of sharpness since some observatories tend to have poor seeing.

Hi Kevin

re>was this shot taken from an observatory ...

I wish!!! Nup, just in the backyard exposed to the elements.

Regarding Asimov's question I have a few different cameras but the one I used here is a Mintron 13V1 with True Tech RGB filter set. I typically use monochrome cameras with filters in order to preserve spatial resolution. Like most of us I have good (lucky days) and bad days (mostly bad).
