Ngc 3293

Hi all, I imaged the Gem Cluster (NGC 3203) yesterday and also had a look at it through my new TV 16mm Nagler. My old Erfle 'wide-field' eyepiece now appears rather pathetic I must say - what a difference!

This is a very beautiful and rich cluster close to Eta Carinae. It is similar in appearance to the Jewel Box (NGC 4755) with a contrasting bright red giant.

Attached is the image, comments, critique etc are welcome

Regards,
Rolf

Beautiful Rolf, If anything the background might be a bit on the black side which may have robbed you of some detail and background stars.

Thanks Frank. Yes it is quite a stunning cluster, also visually in the eyepiece.

Thanks, yeah I targeted this one specifically for the colour contrast between the stars.

Cheers for the suggestion, I thought about it yesterday and then decided I liked the dark background best. However I've just reprocessed it and boosted the curves a little bit - it is actually much better, so thanks A bit of the bluish reflection nebula is showing too now.
