Binoculars

As anyone here had anything to do with Sakura branded binoculars? I ordered and paid for a set of 20x80 Sakura binos before Christmas and received them yesterday. I didn't have time to open the box until this morning and what a disappointment. They are missing a retainer ring on the objective end and part of the body at the eyepiece end is broken and the views thru the binos are also disappointing with orange and blue halos around everything I look at (maybe this as something to do with the broken body?).

I have sent an email to the supplier (not anyone who supports or advertises here) this morning but so far no reply.

Not a great start. Did the packaging looked damaged from delivery?

No the packaging was perfect not a mark on it. They came in 3 boxes (1 polystyrene) one inside the other and all 3 boxes were in perfect condition. The binoculars,in my opinion, were damaged before they were packed.

Sakura is a junk bino. They are like 'departmental' telescopes. They attempt to sell them on 'E bay' using fault specs. to mislead people who may be optically naive. They use incorrect advertising like '50x50' and '120x90'. They also sell cheap zoom binos with totally incorrect specs -'20-180x zoom'. A lot of them have the cheap 'ruby' lens coatings. They sometimes state 'Japanese made' - they are not - they are Chinese soured. Send them back. Sorry with any thing optical you have to pay for quality.
